One of your biggest business risks is the loss of data. Whether it is a malicious virus, employee error, catastrophic IT system failure, or software corruption, the outcome still potentially could mean a massive loss of income or expense to restore the lost information. What would happen to your business today if you lost everything stored on your hard-drive? You need a backup.

What is a backup?

A backup is a copy of all your data, stored in a separate location. These are not only good business practice, but they are a form of insurance against the unknown. If the worst happens, the time taken to reinstate the same systems and settings you had before the disruption is minimal and restores you to the same place when your last backup was.

Why do you need a backup?

Data loss can happen for several different reasons:

  • Natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods that can severely damage equipment
  • Malicious cyber-attacks such a ransomware that can lock you out of your own files until a ransom is paid for a decryption key
  • Equipment failure when your server or workstation has failed
  • User error where an employee has accidentally moved or deleted files
  • Software failure where a patch or update causes system instability
  • Our backup solutions are tailored to each individual customer’s requirements. There are two types that interface with most sites and configurations.

Cloud/Offsite Backup Options

Office 365 Backup

As more and more company data is starting to become "stored on the cloud" it is vital there is a backup solution to support this. Having your data on the cloud does protect you against onsite hardware failures or disasters to your office building for example. It does not protect against accidental deletion, software errors or malicous things such as viruses and malware. It is crucial to have a backup for your Office 365 data that can cover your emails, OneDrive data and SharePoint data.

Server, PC and Mac Backup - Sydney based Datacentre

Our backup software is designed to protect your servers, PC or Mac's with an "image level backup". What this means is in an event of a critical failure, we can restore your computer back to exactly the way it was before the critical failure occured. This backup is an offsite solution so is highly resiliant against threats such as, hardware failure, disasters to your office and ransomware. The backup system uses AES 256-bit encryption in transit and rest so is highly secure.

Server, PC and Mac Backup - Dunedin and Balclutha based Hosting

Using the same software as our standard offsite backup solution, we are able to also host your backups at our Dunedin and Balclutha locations. This option provides the resilience of an offsite backup but without having to send your data offshore. Our system recieves your backup data at our Dunedin centre and replicates this securely down to Balclutha (using the same high level of encryption).

Documents only Backup (Window PC Only)

Onsite Backup Options

Network-attached storage (NAS)

Network-attached storage (NAS) drives are devices that are attached to your network. They ‘talk’ to each one of the workstations on your network. Backing up is automated, scheduled, and saved to the NAS which acts as a vault. It stores all the required information from each device on the network. We can set up a USB hard drive that can be plugged into the NAS and taken offsite at the end of the day to keep the data at a separate location. We can manage this backup system remotely to ensure functional backups are occurring or we can set up alerts to be sent to management if errors do occur. The advantage of this system is there are minimal reoccurring costs and your data is being stored locally. However, it requires the USB to be taken off-site at the end of each day and relies on that happening in order for the backup to be effective.
